Highlight of my imaging career
Final Work
60 feet in length, this image is a highlight of my career. I felt this one panel needed to have it's own entry. It was a huge file while working in CMYK - I seem to recall reaching the 9Gigabyte marker. At that point it took a dual G5 1.8MHz Mac Pro tower (with 8GB of Ram) 15 minutes to open/save the document. I believe the real culprit here was the 7200rpm hard drive. I have never tried a 10 000rpm drive - that would have been a nice time. Luckily, we soon discovered that we could do what we wanted to do using tri-tones which significantly impacted the file size and thus the performance of the tower.
I got to sort through about 45 archival images of which 13 were rescanned at our tremendous specs.
This image brings back so many memories both good and war like. I learned and grew so much during and after this project, I’m truly thankful to have had the opportunity to work with the team on such a great project.
Here is a scaled down version of the panel, it is 3000 pixels wide.
I was working for Origin studios when I did this.
