Canadian War Museum

Final Work
This was the largest project I’ve ever worked on. The permanent exhibit in the New Canadian War museum was facing a 9 month deadline. I was brought in for the Image Production side of the Design wheel. There were 5 deadlines a week (2 due on Tuesdays), so at least there was Monday without a deadline. It was an insane production involving thousands of photos. I must add that there were matching Low Res copies and backup versions of the images. It was truly a monumental task. Photoshop’s actions were tested for the long haul and it championed through, as I expected it to.
I also created several High Res textures that would be applied to various sizes of graphic panels.
It is to note that this is the first graphic design/image project I worked on in metric, in my fifteen years of doing this stuff. I loved it, everything just worked. It took a little while to get used to seeing 3000mm as the standard width of the panels, but it was so easy. I love metric.
Most of the 160+ graphic panels produced for the exhibit included a photo as a background. The look and feel of the images was to be gritty and dirty, like war. Almost every final High Res image was over 300Megs. Duotones were applied to hundreds of images.
DuoTones and TriTones
Here are a few examples of duotones and tritones created for different sections.

Panels in the Space
Here are a few of the final graphic panels with some museum visitors to show the scale. I apologize for the image quality, the images were taken with my old Olympus C3030. I do have to go back with my Nikon D70s and a tripod. Time is always lacking.

When I did this I was working for Origin Studios.
