13 Messages

I just wanted to let the world know that after years and years of a full…

Inbox. I’ve managed to get my inbox down to 13 messages. That’s right, when I left my computer for the last time over the past two days, my inbox was clean. Stuff was filed, action was taken.

In the morning, I didn’t have to scroll to see the new emails. Those early morning emails were staring at me above the split window.

It was beautiful.

I realize that there are many people out there with inboxes fuller than that hard drives that contain the working files of Avatar. But it’s taken many years to get here. I don’t mind having multiple ongoing threads, but when my inbox is 30+ messages for days and weeks on end, I get tense. If I had the inbox of some my ex-employers or current friends, I’d be drinking a mickey by lunch just to relax.

I owe alot of credit to Merlin Mann for helping. His various webcasts helped me create a custom technique that enables me deal with Inbox full syndrome. Thank you Merlin.

I hope I can sustain this…
